Congrats to all the grads or soon-to-be high school graduates. I cannot tell you how happy I was when I graduated high school a couple of years ago. It was literally the best day of my life, haha! But then I started to miss going to school and hearing the bell ring and everything else, including the homework.
Now that I’m in college, I certainly do not miss the homework because it’s three times or maybe even more than it was in high school. I think school is just one of those things where you hate going because you have to go but once you don’t anymore, you do want to go, lol. It’s all very confusing.
Anyway, no matter whether you’re happy or sad, reaching this huge milestone is one that deserves to be celebrated, typically with an epic party that no one will soon forget. I’m talking giant balloons, lots of great food, fun activities, and cute decor.
If you have no idea where to start, do not worry because this post will show you the most trendy and memorable high school graduation party ideas that your guests won’t be able to stop talking about. From fun guest book ideas, photo backdrop ideas, to decorations and delicious food options that will guarantee your party be a hit!
Before we begin, the very first thing you’ll want to do is send out invitations. I’ve linked a few below that I think are great.

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION PARTY IDEAS
1. PICTURE GUESTBOOK
This is such a creative guestbook idea! Instead of having everyone write down just their name, have them take a quick pic and paste it on the guestbook.
They can also write a little motivational note or some much-needed advice.
2. BUILDING MEMORIES
Take it from me, you’ll be needing all the free advice you can get, especially if you’re gonna head off to college soon.
Ask your friends and families to write down some advice about college, studies, socializing, or just life in general. They can also write down some wonderful memories of you guys together.
These are great for those days when you’re feeling down and need a little help cheering up. The advice and memories will do wonders helping you feel better.
3. GRADUATION AWARDS DISPLAY
What better time to show off all of your accolades than your graduation? Gather up all of your honor roll certificates, trophies, and medals you’ve received throughout the years and display them on a wooden box.
4. SHIRLEY TEMPLE STATION
Who doesn’t love a nice cool glass of Shirley Temple? These are great if you’re having your graduation party outdoors. Make sure there are plenty of plastic cups, ice, straws, sprite, and grenadine syrup.
5. FLOWER BAR
Every party needs a fun activity to entertain the guests and flower bars are a great way to do that. Create a little station with lots of different vases and flowers. A few to include are roses, baby’s breath, and lilies.
The guests can make their own little bouquets and also glam up the vases as well using Sharpies, glitter pens, and rhinestones.
6. WELCOME SIGN
No matter where you’re holding your graduation party, you need a welcome sign. Guests may not know which house is yours so the sign will help them to the correct place.
Simply get a chalkboard stand from Amazon and write down ” Welcome to (graduate’s name) grad party”. Add a couple of balloons to make it look extra pretty.
7. GRADUATION CANDY BUFFET
This is such a fun way to offer candy and sweets at your party. Get some containers and fill them up with candies like Smarties, gummy worms, tootsie rolls, and starbursts.
Write down a clever saying or quote that correlates with the type of candy that is inside the container. If you’d like the printables above, you can download them here.
8. GRADUATION CAP CARD HOLDER
It’s a graduation party, so chances are you’ll receive lots of congratulatory cards. Make sure you don’t accidentally lose any and recreate this DIY grad cap card holder.
You’ll need a medium-sized cardboard box and a larger square-shaped cardstock for the top. Simply remove the flaps and glue down the cardstock.
Make a little slit on top for the cards and complete with a tassel on the side.
9. SHOWCASE YOUR GOWN
If you are allowed to keep your graduation gown, why not showcase it? Let everyone know you’ve reached a huge milestone and display your cap and gown along with other awards as well.
10. GRAD PARTY TABLE
Every graduation party needs a grad party table. You can use this to display cute pictures of the grad, showcase awards, use it as a guestbook table, or for incorporating extra decor.
11. GRAD MEMORY BOARD
Show off all of your favorite memories and recreate this memory board. You will need a tri-fold poster which you can get practically anywhere.
Then just print out a bunch of pictures of you and your friends throughout your four years of high school. This is a great way to showcase all of the fun you’ve had together.
12. WOOD PALLET DISPLAY
This is similar to the idea above. If you don’t want to glue down pictures, you can hang them on a wooden pallet using clothespins. Include the graduate’s pictures, favorite memories, and pictures with friends.
13. POPCORN BAR
Who doesn’t love popcorn? Create a little station for popcorn where guests can make their own individual boxes with toppings.
Make sure to put out different flavors of popcorn like regular, cheddar (my favorite), and caramel which a lot of people love.
Don’t forget to include a variety of toppings for the guests to choose from as well. A few to include are melted chocolate, nuts, and Parmesan cheese.
14. KEY TO SUCCESS
In my opinion, there is no better gift than good advice which you can incorporate into your life. Have your friends and family share their key to success. You can later look back at these and reflect.
You can buy fake keys and paper tags from Amazon. Make sure to label the area using a small chalkboard stand.
15. WOODEN BOARD BACKDROP
This is such a cute and simple photo backdrop idea. You can buy a wooden board backdrop from Amazon or Etsy or, if you’re feeling crafty, make one yourself.
Hang up lots of balloons in different sizes and colors to make the backdrop look amazing. Don’t forget to write down the graduating year of the graduate in the middle.
16. GRADUATION BALLOONS
I don’t know about you but I think the pictures would turn out amazing against this backdrop. Put up lots of balloons that are different sizes and colors.
You can also use balloons that are in your high school/college colors. Add stickers that say “Congrats grad” for the finishing touch.
17. GRADUATION CENTERPIECE
Looking for some easy graduation table centerpiece? This is a super easy one that you can recreate in less than 10 minutes.
Get a wood slice and place a cute picture of the grad, a motivational quote, and some faux greenery to brighten things.
18. GRADUATION FRONT HOUSE DECOR
Let everyone know exactly which house the grad party is being held by decorating the front of the house. Use lots of balloons to make a garland and hang up larger letter balloons in the middle to make out the word grad.
There is no driving past this house, haha!
19. WRITE DOWN ADDRESS
If you like to send out thank you cards, this is a great idea for you. Have everyone write down their address inside the envelope before they leave. This will make your life a lot easier and you won’t have to call them to ask.
20. MEMORY LANE
What a fun way to decorate your driveway for graduation. Print out pictures of the grad when they were one to the age they are now. Glue these on wooden sticks and line them up your driveway.
21. DIPLOMA COOKIES
These are just too cute not to be included in your grad party. Plus, they taste incredible. All you need are rolled wafers and some ribbon in your school color. Just tie the ribbon around the wafer and you’ve got yourself a delicious graduation treat.
22. HATS OFF TO YOU
If you love to DIY, you need to give this a try. Buy a bunch of mini Reese’s Cups. Get red (or your school color) construction paper and make tiny squares out of them.
Glue these on Reese’s cups and add a cute little ribbon on top to make delicious graduation caps.
23. ONE SMART COOKIE
Planning on serving cookies at your grad party? Make it a graduation theme by placing a cute sign that says “one smart cookie” on the front.
24. GRADUATION CUPCAKE TOWER
Cupcakes? Yes, please! They taste so insanely good and you can make them fit into your grad party theme by making the frosting in your school colors.
Make a cupcake tower by placing the cupcakes on a tiered tray. If you want to be extra (like me), you can also make a graduation cake that looks like a grad cap to place on top.
25. DONUT WALL
Donuts are a universally loved treat so why not include them in your graduation party? Hang up lots of donuts on the wall where guests can just take one.
Make sure to include a wide variety of flavors and also napkins. No one wants to walk around with sticky fingers the whole party, haha!
26. FRIENDS THEME
I swear I’ve watched Friends six times already this year, lol! it’s my comfort show and no matter how many times I rewatch it, I never get bored. If you are also a huge Friends fan, make your grad party Friends theme.
Get a large chalkboard and write down “Season 20, episode 19, The one where they graduate”. You can change up the season and episode to your graduation year. It’s so cute and simple.
You’ll want to place a comfy couch in front of it and a nice rug to recreate the cozy vibes of Central Perk.
27. LEMONADE BAR
Since most graduation parties are held in May or June when the weather starts to heat up, you’ll want to create a refreshment station for the guests to cool off.
In my opinion, nothing tastes better than cold lemonade on a hot summer day. Include lots of syrups, toppings like fresh fruits, and don’t forget to include lots of ice as well.
28. CHARCUTERIE CUPS
Charcuterie boards are a hit at every party so it only makes sense to create one for yours. But instead of making just one charcuterie board, make smaller, individual charcuterie cups instead.
I like this idea much more than the board because everybody gets their own cup, it’s sanitary, and you can walk around with them.
Include different types of cheeses, crackers, pretzels, cured meats, and some delicious fruits. Don’t forget to add a couple of toothpicks as well.
29. DESSERT STATION
Creating a dessert station is a must for your graduation party. Mostly everyone likes sweets. If not cupcakes or cakes, then sweet candies.
Make a gorgeous dessert station with cupcakes, cake pops, and lots of other sweet treats. Don’t forget to add pretty decor with balloons and light-up numbers.
30. CHIPS STAND
Who doesn’t love chips? It’s honestly one of the best snacks out there. Make a little chips stand and include a variety of different kinds of chips.
A few of my favorites are Cheetos, Doritos, regular Lays, and of course sour cream and onions. You can just buy a chip stand or rack from Amazon for a really low price.
Most already come with clips so all you need to do is hang them up. If they don’t come with clips, just use clothespins.
31. CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZELS
Chocolate-covered pretzels are delicious on their own but, using colored chocolate for the pretzels will make them stand out even more.
You can use your high school colors or your college colors. Play around with dyes and designs a little bit until you get the result you want.
32. SIMPLE GRADUATION CENTERPIECE
Graduation centerpieces are the focal point of the table so it’s essential that it looks amazing. Grab a wooden slice, a vase full of flowers, and the graduate’s pictures to place on top. For the final touch, cut out the graduation year with sparkly paper.
33. PIN THE TASSEL
If you really want your graduation party to be memorable, then you need some sort of fun activity for the guests. Pin the tassel is a great option.
You’ll need to get a large cutout of the graduate’s head with the cap. Fill a bucket with lots of mini tassels which you can make out of paper.
Add a tape on the back and blindfold the players. You’ll need to spin them around and then they will try to pin the tassel closest to the graduate’s cap. Whoever gets closest, wins!
34. BALLOON GRAD
Looking for budget-friendly graduation party decor? Blow up some balloons like above and make an adorable balloon graduate out of them. Tape a graduation cap and the diploma (rolled paper) for the finishing touch.

Give your front door a little love too and recreate this graduation wreath. You’ll need a foam wreath and lots of pictures of the graduate.
Tape or glue on the pictures around the wreath and secure a grad cap on top. You can hang this on your front door, the wall, the fence, or basically anywhere you want.
36. GRADUATION JEAPORDY
This is another super fun activity your friends will love! You’ll want to think of categories and questions that reflect your high school years.
For example, questions about history or college. Split the guests into teams of two and whoever answers the most correctly, wins!

Looking for cute graduation decorating ideas? This hula hoop photo display is an amazing option. Not only does it look amazing, it’s a great way to showcase all of the fun memories you’ve had throughout the years.

Make it pop by adding some flowers and greenery on the top and bottom.
38. THE MEMORY JAR
This is such a great idea because once high school is over, you most likely won’t be seeing your friends very often.
It might be because you’ve outgrown each other or different paths in life. Make sure you always have the memories with you by asking everyone to write one down in the memory jar.
You can also ask for some advice about anything. College, life, career, etc.
39. INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE
How cute is this? Grab a chalkboard stand and write down an inspirational quote for all the grads. It’s a great way to give them a little confidence boost if they are feeling down.
40. GRADUATION BOXES
If you love to DIY and save a little extra cash, you need to try this out. Get wrapping paper in either your high school or college colors. Grab four cardboard boxes and wrap them up.

44. VEGGIE CUPS
Veggie cups are delicious, especially with some ranch. You cannot convince me otherwise, haha! I know not all people like veggies but this is a great option to include at your party if they do.
Plus, it’s another food option for vegetarians if you’re planning on serving meat. Just grab clear plastic cups, add some ranch on the bottom, and place your veggie sticks on top. You can include celery, carrots, bell peppers, and cucumbers as well.
45. GRAD PARTY ENTRANCE
Make sure your guests know which house the party is being held by making a cute entrance sign. This one is extremely simple and cute. You could probably recreate it in less than 10 minutes.
Just stick a wooden stick on the ground in front of your house. You can buy some from Amazon or just use some large twigs you find in your front yard.
Then, attach a wooden board on the stick and write ” graduation party” with an arrow pointing towards the entrance. Make it pop by adding cute balloons and fairy lights.
46. HANG UP TASSEL GARLAND
As you may already know, tassels are worn on the graduate’s cap to symbolize their achievement but, they look incredible when used for decorations as well.
You can buy longer tassel garlands and place them on the table, the roof, the walls, or anywhere else you want to add a little extra oomph.
47. S’MORES BAR
I have not met one person who does not like s’mores. I mean what is there not to like? Even if you don’t like the cracker or marshmallow, the chocolate makes it all okay, haha!

48. SELFIE STATION
Every party needs some selfie props. It is a must! Include mustache props, lips, and some hashtags on a stick.
You can easily recreate these yourself at home with long toothpicks, some cardstock, and glue. If you don’t have the time to DIY, you can buy these off of Amazon. They come in packs and are super cheap.
49. SHOT STATION
If you are planning on inviting parents or if you and your friends are old enough to drink, creating a shot station is a great idea.
Include a variety of different alcohols, small plastic cups, and lots of ice. Don’t forget to add a cute little chalkboard sign in front of it.
50. ROLLING DRINK CART
I honestly think this is one of the best things to have at your graduation party. Who’s got the time to go back and forth to get a cool drink?
Not me! I’d probably be sweating like crazy just standing there doing nothing, haha! But, seriously, you can roll this cart wherever you go and it holds a bunch of drinks.
It’s super convenient and it looks so nice.
51. POTTING BAR
If you are looking for creative party favor ideas, this is the one for you. Have your guests grow their own succulents and create a potting bar.
They will choose which succulent they want, pick a nice pot, add some soil, and then plant the succulent. It’s super easy, creative, and they will have loads of fun.
