I am a hardcore makeup lover. In fact, if you see my room right now you’d be shocked at how much makeup and beauty products I own. I honestly don’t even know why I keep buying them because I rarely ever wear makeup. Mostly because I’m way too lazy and because I have very problematic and sensitive skin.
And most products make my skin flare up which I hate! Anyway, since I own so much stuff and on top of that am super lazy, my room is always a mess. There are products and items in random places that I don’t even know how it ended up there, haha.
I’ve been scouring Pinterest for some makeup and beauty product storage ideas to make my room look a little less messy. If you’re also looking for makeup organization ideas because your room is looking not so cute or just want to try something new, then keep on reading.

MAKEUP ORGANIZATION IDEAS
1. MAKEUP PALLET ORGANIZER
Do you have a lot of makeup palettes that need to be organized? If so, make use of a makeup palette organizer that’ll make sure all of your products are in one place and look cohesive.
You can store your eyeshadow palettes, blush palettes, bronzer palettes. cheek palettes, and lip palettes all in the same place. You can get the organizer from Ulta here.
2. MAKEUP DRAWER ORGANIZATION
If you have a drawer you can use to store all of your products but it doesn’t look as good as it should, then this one’s for you.
You NEED to buy acrylic dividers. They make your life a whole lot easier. You can organize your products based on category.
For example, place all of your lip liners in one container and lipsticks in the other. You can get them here.
3. SEPARATE CABINET
Got some extra space you can use? Then buy a cabinet just for your makeup and beauty products.
If you have a lot of products and need to organize them ASAP then buying a cabinet dedicated to only your beauty products is just what you need.
It’ll keep all of your stuff in one place and you can see clearly exactly what you have. Which in turn will make you want to use the product.
If you have a red lipstick you wanted to wear but never got around to it and have misplaced it, you’re not gonna want to search for just that one lipstick so you can wear it right?
But if it’s all on display like this, you’ll gravitate to the products more. I don’t know if that all just made sense, lol!
4. LIP GLOSS DRAWERS
I absolutely love how good and clean this looks! As someone who owns more lip glosses than she can count, I will definitely be trying this out.
Buy a clear makeup organizer with drawers to recreate this idea. Grab all of your lip glosses and liquid lipsticks and place them neatly inside.
You can keep all of your liquid lipsticks in one drawer and lipglosses in the other or, you can color coordinate. You can go from light to dark or the other way around.
Whatever way you choose to organize, it’ll give you the most gorgeous end result. Buy the organizer here.
5. COZY VANITY
I love makeup vanities. They just make me feel so much more boujee and put together, haha! If you have the space for it, buy a cute little makeup vanity to put in a corner of your room.
I suggest in front or near a window for that natural lighting. I’d hate to walk around all day with an orange face and two different colors for my body and face lol.
But, wherever you choose to place your vanity is fine. Make your vanity a little cozier by keeping a vase full of flowers on the counter along with a scented candle.
Add a cute chair for you to sit and get ready in, and lastly, if you’re super lazy like me, keep a spray bottle filled with water on your vanity for your beauty blender.
6. USE EMPTY CANDLE JARS
If you want to save some money, then this is the one for you. Mostly everyone lights candles in their home, right? If you do too, then this idea will work perfectly for you.
You know when you light a candle and towards the end, there is always some left on the bottom that you can never seem to burn?
I would always throw it out when it reaches that point but not anymore. I’ve been seeing a bunch of people putting their candle jars in hot water and also removing the wicks.
Once it’s completely cleaned out, you can use it for literally anything you want. One of my favorites is storing makeup brushes. Just look at the picture above and see how good it looks!
And, you save a little extra cash since you don’t have to buy new containers.
7. MAGNETIC MAKEUP BOARD
If you are running low on space then this magnetic makeup board will come in handy. You can recreate this in less than 10 minutes and place literally any beauty product there.
To recreate this makeup board, you’ll just need a sheet of thin metal and a board you want to use.
All you do is secure the metal on the board and place metal tape on the bottom of all your makeup. Now simply arrange your products how you’d like.
This DIY is great for dorm rooms, bathrooms, and if you have a small amount of space. Find the full tutorial here.
8. CHEEK DRAWER
Don’t you hate it when you have to rummage through your stuff to find that amazing blush or highlighter you’re looking for? I know I certainly do.
If you have an empty drawer you can use, incorporate a couple of eyeshadow dividers inside. Now gather up all of your cheek products.
Blush, bronzer, contour, and highlighter. Place all of these in each compartment and make sure to separate them by category. Keep your blush in one row, bronzer in another, etc.
This way, all of your items are neatly organized and you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for in less than 30 seconds.
9. STORE YOUR BEAUTY BLENDERS IN APOTHECARY CARS
Although apothecary jars are “technically” for storing medicine and herbs, in today’s time, they are used for a much wider variety of things.
And one of them is, for storing makeup sponges. If you own a lot of beauty blenders, you should definitely give this a try.
You can store all of your clean sponges in the jar and make a rule that you cannot keep dirty makeup sponges inside.
This way, there won’t be any unwanted germs, won’t cause breakouts, and your space remains clutter-free. You can buy them here.
10. ROLLING CART ORGANIZATION
Rolling carts are honestly such lifesavers. Since I live in a dorm room and there isn’t much space to work with, I have one right next to my bed.
I use that as my nightstand and for storing all of my supplies for school. But now, I am definitely gonna buy another rolling cart to organize my makeup.
Usually, when you store your makeup in carts or other places you usually wouldn’t, it ends up looking not so cute. But, If I’m being totally honest, this rolling cart idea looks insanely good!
I found a pretty similar-looking one from Amazon that is also affordable if you would like to buy it. Get it here.
11. FLOATING SPICE RACK
Floating spice racks are obviously amazing for storing all of your spices but, did you know they can be used for organizing your makeup as well?
Buy a couple of floating spice racks from Amazon and install them either in your bedroom or bathroom. Now, just place all of the products that can stand up on their own there.
Foundation, concealers, blushes, or basically anything that comes in a pump form. Usually, all of them can stand up.
You can also place your makeup palettes in the back and your liquids in the front.
12. BRUSH ORGANIZATION
If you have a lot of makeup brushes then you know firsthand how easy it is to lose them. Make sure all of your brushes are within reach and organized by placing them in little containers.
I absolutely love this one from Amazon. It’s cheap, cute, and simple. It also rotates 360 and it has a cover to protect the brushes from dust and other gunk.
13. USE WOVEN BASKETS
If you don’t want to spend a ton of money on new makeup organizers, then just buy a simple woven basket from Amazon.
They are great for organization and making sure things stay neat and tidy. I suggest you get one with three compartments so everything is not mixed together.
You can use one compartment for your face and cheeks, another for your eyes, and the last one to hold all of your brushes and tools.
You can buy it here.
14. LIPSTICK ORGANIZER
Do you own a lot of lip products? If so, you need to recreate this makeup organization idea.

There is no need to go digging through your makeup again. Need a nude lippie? No problem! Just open your drawer and grab it, haha!
15. USE IKEA KALLAX
I don’t know if you guys know but, Ikea Kallax units are insanely popular. Not just for storing books, but for all types of things.
I’ve seen many people use them as nightstands and entryway tables, and now, you can also use them as a vanity.
This is literally perfect if you have a small amount of space to work with but have a lot of makeup that needs to be organized.
You can use each of the shelves for a different category. Plus, if you have extra space left over, you can utilize that for storing other items such as body washes, shampoo, conditioner, etc.
16. FOUNDATION DRAWER
If you have a lot of foundation or concealers then you can probably benefit from having an entire drawer just for those items.
Almost everyone needs at least two different shades of foundation. One darker than the other for summer and winter.
Anyway, you can just get a simple divider from Amazon and place each product in one compartment.
You can also include your setting sprays and setting powders in this drawer as well.
17. MAKEUP STORAGE CASE
This is actually the most popular way to organize and store your makeup and for good reason. Not only does it keep everything in one place, it’s insanely cheap!
This is also great if you are a newbie or just don’t have a lot of products. I suggest you get one with at least four different drawers so you can organize them by category.
One for the face, another one for the cheeks, the next one for lips, and the last one for makeup sponges and brushes.
18. MAKEUP PEG BOARD
A peg board is most commonly used for organizing tools but as you can see here, it works pretty darn well for organizing your makeup too.
You can use this to store all of your makeup items and to display your most beautiful packaged products as well.
This works amazingly well for the bathroom. Especially if you have one that is smaller in size. Just hang this on the wall, above the toilet, or by the mirror for easy access.
19. CLEAR ACRYLIC CASE
Just like number 17, this clear acrylic makeup display is insanely good for organization. I suggest you keep one on your vanity or your bathroom counter.
Include only the products you use on a daily basis. This way, the drawers aren’t too tight and you don’t have to go searching for your favorite foundation in your vanity.
20. GLITTER MAKEUP ORGANIZER
If you love to DIY and are looking for easy DIY makeup organization ideas, then this is the one for you!
If you have a small round box that you don’t know what to do with, turn it into a makeup storage case that is all glammed up.
This organizer has foam board inserts to make the shelves and lots of sparkly glitter. If you want to recreate this, take a look at the full tutorial here.
21. MAKEUP BRUSHES DRAWER
If you’re anything like me and hate mixing your face brushes/sponges/tools with the rest of your makeup products, then you are going to love this one.
First empty out a drawer and insert acrylic trays. Place your face brushes in one compartment, cheek brushes in another, and eye brushes in the next.
Also, leave one tray empty for all of your makeup sponges. If you have some extra space left over, you can use that to store all of your falsies and powder puffs.
You can also include your lash glues in the same drawer so everything is together.
22. USE A CAKE STAND
If you are looking for budget-friendly makeup organization ideas to recreate, then try this out. Grab a tiered cake stand and simply place all of your makeup products on there.
You probably already have one but if you don’t, you can get one from Amazon for super cheap. I really love this one.
It’s three-tiered, white and gold, and looks very high-end even though it’s not.
23. LADDER SHELF
If you want to show off your makeup collection but don’t have a lot of space to work with, then get yourself a ladder shelf!
They are great for organization and showcasing your makeup or literally anything else. Just place all of your makeup in acrylic trays to make sure it stays neat and tidy.
Then, place the trays on each of the shelves. You can arrange it however you want and also add a few decorative items to make it look pretty.
24. UTENSIL HOLDER AS MAKEUP ORGANIZER
Sometimes, you gotta get a little creative with your organization. Especially if you are a broke college student like me, haha!
You can use a utensil tray to organize all of your beauty products. They are great because they have more than just one compartment.
So, you can use one for face products, another for tools, and another for cheeks or however you want to use it.
You can also use this to store your nail polishes and body products depending on how big they are.
25. USE TIERED TRAY
If tiered trays have one fan, it’s me. My mom uses them all the time to decorate our home. She mostly uses it to add a bit of seasonal touch but that’s not all they’re good for.
Most tiered trays I see are wooden and look very rustic/old. But there are ones that are specifically made for your vanities and makeup like this one.
I suggest you keep this on your bathroom counter because it can start to get messy really fast in there.
Only keep what you actually use on the tray so it doesn’t look cluttered and overcrowded.
You can also keep your favorite perfume and hand lotion on the tray if you have extra space.
26. WALL SHADOW RACK
Do you have a bunch of eyeshadows and need a storage solution quick? Well, you’ve come to the right place because this wall-mounted shadow rack is just what you need!
This is literally perfect for all of your single eyeshadows or blush. All you need to do is install this on the desired wall space and place all of your products in the compartment.
You can color code it to make it look aesthetic!
27. BACK OF DOOR ORGANIZATION
Ran out of counter space and don’t have any wall space left? No problem! You can easily organize all of your makeup on the back of your door.
Much like the metal sheets, you can buy self-adhesive magnet sheets to place on the back of your door. Then buy some self-adhesive magnets to put on your makeup.
Now just arrange it however you’d like. I would recommend installing the magnet sheet on your bathroom cabinet door so it is out of sight.
It also makes it easier to get ready in the morning since everything is right there in the bathroom.
28. HANGING SHOE ORGANIZER
This is one of my absolute favorite makeup organization ideas on this list. Did you know you can use a hanging shoe organizer to keep all of your makeup neat and tidy?
Well, you do now! You can fit so many products in the little compartments, it is actually unbelievable.
If you own a lot of makeup or just ran out of space, definitely try this out!
29. ORGANIZE BY BRAND
Is there a specific brand you gravitate towards more? I know I do. I am in love with all things Pat McGrath. Her makeup line is just out of this world.
Her Sublime Foundation is the only one that doesn’t make me break out and it’s super skin-like. I’m telling you, it makes your skin look flawless but it doesn’t look like you’re wearing makeup.
Anyway, if there are brands you like more and you own different products from each, try this out. Print out stickers and just place them on the drawer you’d like.
You can also just use a Sharpie for this. Then simply keep the products from each brand in their dedicated drawer.
30. GORGEOUS MAKEUP DISPLAY
First of all, how insanely stunning is this?! If you are looking for a beautiful makeup display idea to recreate, this is a great one.
Empty out a drawer or two and place acrylic dividers inside. Now just arrange your products how you’d like.
If you have empty space above your cabinet or dresser, keep your most beautiful products there to showcase them.
31. FLOATING SHELVES
I am a huge fan of floating shelves. In fact, I have three installed above my bed in my dorm. I mainly just use it to add decor to the room.
Depending on how much makeup you have, buy 5 or 6 long floating shelves and install them where you’d like.
I would suggest it on your bathroom wall since it’ll be easier to grab and get ready in the morning. Now just place your products neatly on the shelves.
You can also place your skincare if there is any extra space left over. This is very ideal for small spaces and of course, your dorm room since there is literally no room for anything in there, lol!
32. VERTICAL WALL SHELF
Last but definitely not least, we’ve got this amazing vertical wall shelf idea. It’s very similar to the floating shelves except you don’t need to install this on the wall.
I would suggest keeping this in a corner of your room or closet. This is also another fantastic small space makeup organization idea that doubles as decor.
First, just place all of your beauty products on the shelves. Then, add a couple of decorative items like flowers and candles on there to make it look more aesthetic.
