Black History Month is almost here! I for one am super excited because I love seeing all the different ways people celebrate. When I was in high school we used to have door decorating contests for important holidays like Christmas and black history month. Every single classroom door was super pretty and meaningful.
Students loved to help out because it meant we didn’t have to do any classwork, haha! But also because we wanted to win the best door contest. The prize would usually be a pizza party, ice cream party, movie day, or just a free period to do whatever you want. I can proudly say my class did win once and it was amazing. We would brag about it all the time, I’m pretty sure people were super annoyed with us but whatever.
Anyway, decorating your classroom door for black history month is a great way to get your student’s creativity to shine through and to send out a powerful message. February is the month we celebrate all of the achievements of African Americans. Black History Month is a month when we can try to change people’s prejudices and have them see everyone as an equal.
If you are a teacher looking for door decorations to celebrate the monumental month, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve gathered over 30 of the best black history month door decorations that send out powerful messages and will also guarantee you win the contest.
